Yüksek Öğretim Kurulu (YÖK) is aiming to standardize the acceptance of international students by launching the ‘Turkey International Student Admission Exam’ (TR-YÖS) which will be held for the first time on January 29th. The TR-YÖS, to be implemented to attract more international students to Turkey, will be held in 6 languages, including Turkish, German, Arabic, French, English and Russian.

WHAT IS THE YÖS EXAM? WHO CAN APPLY?

The Foreign Student Exams (YÖS) are exams that foreign students wishing to study in universities in Turkey can participate in and use the results of these exams in their university applications.

The exam, to be held for the first time by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), will be held in 17 provinces in Turkey and in 23 countries abroad. The exam to be held in Adana, Ankara, Bursa, Edirne, Gaziantep, Hatay, Mersin, Istanbul, Izmir, Kayseri, Konya, Kahramanmaraş, Mardin, Trabzon, Şanlıurfa, Van and Kilis in Turkey will be implemented in Northern Cyprus, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Lebanon, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Chad, Libya, Nigeria, Niger, Senegal and Jordan abroad.

The TR-YÖS, which foreign students wishing to study in higher education institutions in Turkey will enter and use the results in their applications to these institutions, will provide convenience to applicants from different countries in applying to higher education institutions in Turkey.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE EXAM?

  • Candidates who meet the application conditions specified by YÖK and published in the exam guide issued by ÖSYM can apply. In addition;
  • Foreign nationals,
  • Those who have lost their Turkish citizenship with the permission of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to become a Turkish citizen by birth and those who have a blue card proving that they have lost their Turkish citizenship upon their request,
  • Those who have acquired foreign citizenship while they were foreign nationals and dual citizens,
