According to the International Labor Law No. 6735, foreigners must obtain permission before starting dependent or independent work in Turkey.

If a student who comes to Turkey from abroad for educational purposes also wants to work in a company, he must obtain a work permit. Associate, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students studying in Turkey can work provided that they obtain a work permit. However, the right to work for associate and undergraduate students starts after the first year and cannot exceed twenty-four hours per week. The procedures and principles regarding the right to work of associate and undergraduate students are regulated jointly by the Ministry and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security within the framework of the principles to be determined by the Migration Policy Board.

Foreign students cannot work more than 24 hours a week if they have a work permit.

Students must have a residence permit when applying for work permits.

In order to obtain a work permit, students must be over the age of 18 and pursuing a master’s, master’s or doctorate in Turkey.

Students coming from Turkey outside of student exchange programs are required to obtain a work permit in order to be able to do internship in order to provide professional experience or economic income in any business field other than their compulsory internship.
