Within the framework of the protocol signed yesterday between Turkey and Azerbaijan, citizens of the two countries will be able to travel with their identity cards on mutual visits.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during his visit to Baku on 9-10 December, announced that a protocol was signed yesterday that allows travel between the two countries to be made with an identity card.
In the statement made by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated that the protocol, which allows mutual visits of the citizens of the two countries with their identity cards, will pave the way for the two peoples to come together more tightly.
After the abolition of the visa applied to Turkish citizens by Azerbaijan, the visa-free residence period of the citizens of the two countries was increased from 30 days to 90 days on February 25, 2020.
With the protocol signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu with his Azerbaijani counterpart on December 10, it was stated that citizens of both countries can travel to Turkey and Azerbaijan only by presenting an identity card.
President Erdogan, together with his delegation, went to Baku to attend the Victory Day military parade celebrating the victory of the Azerbaijani army in Nagorno-Karabakh, upon the invitation of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
