The Process of Acquiring Turkish Citizenship with a Residence Permit

You have the right to apply for citizenship when you fill the valid periods by buying a house, a student residence permit or a work permit, depending on the type of residence permit counted as citizenship in Turkey. Those who have an official marriage with a Turkish citizen can apply for citizenship at the end of 3 years. Touristic residence permits, international protection, temporary protection and humanitarian residence permits do not provide the right to apply for citizenship.

The fact that the persons who keep the day count applied does not give the right to citizenship. It takes about 40 – 50 days as a result of the day counting in the province of Istanbul. An apostilled birth certificate from their home country is required from those who are positive for the application. Afterwards, a marital status certificate is requested. If you are married, a document showing that your marriage continues is required.  One of the most important elements in the documents and documents brought is the absence of letter and spelling errors. Make sure that everything is literally correct.

The next step is fingerprinting. You have to give it to the necessary authorities .  You must have a full thank-you health certificate. You should not have any contagious disease and your general health status should be suitable for Turkey.

The next step is the interview date from the commission. You will go to the citizenship commission and go through an interview about Turkey. Your Turkish proficiency will be evaluated. After all these have taken place, an investigation is made about you with the police station. If the research results are positive, it is sent to the approval authority in Ankara.
