Immigrant Smuggling Penalty for Taxi Driver Who Doesn’t Ask for Documents

MİTHAT YURDAKUL Ankara – According to the letter sent from Provincial Immigration Administrations to institutions including chambers of commerce and chauffeurs, taxis will have to check the necessary documents if they carry foreign passengers out of the province. Taxi drivers who do not comply with the obligation to check the said documents will be subject to an administrative fine in accordance with the Law on Foreigners and International Protection and judicial action will be taken for smuggling of migrants. Camera system will be mandatory in TIR parks, inspections will be increased.

DOUBLE DOCUMENT FOR SYRIANS

Foreigners whose applications for international protection are found eligible in Turkey will have with them the International Protection Status Holder Identity Document issued by the Provincial Directorates of Migration Management. These documents will include their validity period. Foreigners in this scope will also be allowed to travel with a road permit document. Foreigners with international protection status will have to carry both documents during their inter-provincial travels.

Syrians under temporary protection will also have the Temporary Protection Identity Document issued by the Migration Administrations with them. Syrian nationals will also obtain a “road permit document” from the province they are registered in, in case they want to go to a province other than the province they are registered in, and will carry both documents with them during their journey. Foreigners who have a visa or visa exemption will be able to travel between cities, provided that they have their passports with them. For foreigners who are legally present in Turkey and apply for a residence permit, a Residence Permit Application Document will be issued by the Provincial Directorates of Migration Management, which allows them to stay until their applications are concluded. These foreigners will also be able to travel with the document in question.

Irregular migrants whose administrative detention has been terminated will also receive a separate document. A Road Permit Document will be issued by the Provincial Directorates of Migration Management to immigrants who are subject to notification obligation in a certain province until the deportation procedures are completed, but are allowed to travel to another province for various reasons.
