Criteria for Employers Hiring Foreigners

Turkish companies can't hire just anyone from abroad. They must meet certain rules to protect the local job market. Your employer needs to show they are financially stable before they hire you.

The 5:1 Employee Ratio

For every foreign worker, the company must hire at least five Turkish citizens. If you're a partner in the company, this rule starts after your first six months. It's a strict rule that the Ministry checks often.

Financial Requirements

The company needs at least 100,000 TRY in paid-in capital. Or, they must show gross sales of 800,000 TRY. They can also show they exported 250,000 USD worth of goods last year. These numbers prove the business is real and active.

How to Extend a Work Permit

Timing is everything when you renew. You must apply within 60 days before your current permit ends. Don't wait until it expires. If it lapses, you can't extend it anymore. You'll have to start a brand new application, which is much harder.

Replacing Lost or Damaged Permits

Did you lose your permit card? You must report it right away. You can ask for a new one through the e-Government system. You'll need to pay a small fee for the new card. The Ministry will then mail it to your employer's office.
