The Karabuk Governorship has restricted specific neighborhoods for foreign address registration. Learn which areas are closed to residence permit applications today.

New Residency Restrictions for Foreigners in Karabük

The Karabük Governor’s Office recently shared new residency restrictions for foreigners in Karabük. These changes come directly from the Turkish Ministry of Interior. Now, you can't register your address or apply for protection in certain parts of the province. The government wants to manage how many people live in specific areas. By closing some neighborhoods, they hope to keep the population balanced.

This plan is part of a larger national strategy. It helps prevent too many foreign residents from settling in one small district. And it ensures that local resources can meet the needs of everyone living there.

Areas Under the New Residency Restrictions for Foreigners in Karabük

Local officials picked several spots that are now closed to new registrations. These rules apply if you want a standard residence permit or protection status. If you try to register in these zones, the migration management office will likely reject your application.

The restricted areas include:

  • 100. Yıl District: A busy residential area now closed to new foreign residents.
  • Kılavuzlar District: You can't record a new address registration here anymore.
  • Bostanbükü Village: This village is restricted for all residency and protection types.
  • Hürriyet District: New settlement procedures are no longer allowed in this zone.
  • Karıt Village and Karıt Mücavir: Both locations are on the restricted list.
  • Bayır Mahallesi: This is the newest addition to the list as of July 2022.

When These Rules Started

These changes happened in two main steps. The Ministry of Interior did this to manage the local population better. The first phase started on February 4, 2022. Most of the closed neighborhoods on the list stopped accepting registrations then.

But the list grew later. On July 1, 2022, the state added Bayır Mahallesi to the restricted group. Since that date, officials haven't processed new permits for foreigners in these specific zones. It's a strict policy that doesn't have many exceptions for new arrivals.

What You Need to Know Before Moving

Are you planning to move to Karabük? You must check if your chosen neighborhood is open first. If a place is "closed," the Civil Registry won't accept your papers. This rule hits new applicants the hardest. It also affects people already in Turkey who want to change their address.

These rules mainly affect:

  • People applying for their first residence permit.
  • Those seeking Temporary or International Protection status.
  • Current residents who want to move into one of these closed neighborhoods.

If you already live there legally, don't worry. You can usually stay in your home. But you might face problems if you try to move to another closed street nearby. So, it's best to stay put or move to an open district.

The Goal of the Quota Policy

Turkey calls this the "dilution" policy. It keeps the foreign population under 25% in any single area. This helps schools and hospitals work better for everyone. It also makes it easier for people to integrate into the local community. These new residency restrictions for foreigners in Karabük help keep the city's services running smoothly for all residents.
