The Person You Specify Can Receive Your Residence Card from the Master.
If you are not at home during the delivery of your Turkish residence card, authorized relatives or legal representatives can receive it on your behalf.
Understanding the Residence Card Delivery System
In 2021, the Turkish Presidency of Migration Management updated the residence permit application process. They added a new section called "Card Delivery Alternative Buyer." This feature lets you choose another person to get your physical residence card (Ikamet) from the postal service (PTT). It's a key part of the residence card delivery system designed to make your life easier.

Usually, the postman delivers the card to your home address. But many people are at work or out during the day. This update ensures your card doesn't go back to the Migration Office too soon. It saves you a lot of time and stress.
Authorized Alternative Recipients
You can't just pick anyone to sign for your mail. The residence card delivery system limits who can receive the card for you. Only specific legal representatives or close family members can do this. They must show their ID and prove their relationship to you when the PTT officer arrives.
Legal Representatives
These people can get your residence permit on your behalf:
- Lawyers: Your attorney needs a valid power of attorney that specifically allows them to receive your documents.
- Guardians: These are people legally set to help those who can't manage their own affairs.
- Parents: For kids under 18, parents are the default legal representatives.
Close Relatives
The Migration Office allows these family members to take the delivery:
- Your spouse (Wife or Husband)
- Your Mother or Father
- Your Children (Son or Daughter)
How to Set Up an Alternative Buyer
You must set this up during your online appointment on the e-Ikamet system. Look for the "Card Delivery Alternative Buyer" box. You'll need to enter the full name and ID number of the person you choose. This can be a Turkish ID or a Foreigner ID number.
When the PTT officer knocks, they'll check the ID of the person at the door. If the name matches what's in the system, they'll hand over the envelope. It's a simple way to ensure you get your card on the first try.
What Happens if No One is Home?
If you and your helper are both out, the PTT officer will leave a yellow notice. This note tells you which local PTT branch is holding your card. You usually have 7 to 15 days to go pick it up. But don't wait too long. If you miss the deadline, they'll send the card back to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.
Final Tips on the Residence Card Delivery System
Always make sure the names you enter are 100% correct. If there's even a small typo, the postman will refuse to deliver the card. And if your card goes back to the Migration Office, you'll have to go there in person to get it. This can cause long delays in proving you live here legally. So, double-check your residence card delivery system details before you hit submit.
