This article outlines the 2021 market restrictions and curfew measures sent to 81 provinces in Turkey to help residents understand the official regulations.
New Market Regulations for 81 Provinces
The Ministry sent a new circular to all 81 provinces. These New Market Regulations explain how shops must work during the full lockdown. The goal is simple. The government wants to keep people safe while making sure you can still get food. These rules cover almost all businesses. But production and logistics sites have different rules.
Operating Hours and Sunday Restrictions
During the lockdown, your local grocery store has shorter hours. They open at 10:00 and must close by 17:00. This rule applies to butchers, bakeries, and greengrocers too. It helps keep crowds small. But remember, chain supermarkets must close completely on Sundays. You'll need to do your shopping on other days to avoid any trouble.
New Market Regulations for Product Sales
The circular limits what you can buy in person. Starting Friday, May 7, 2021, stores can only sell essential goods. This policy stops people from browsing too long in the aisles. It applies to every chain store and supermarket in the country. You can still find most things you need for daily life.
Permitted Essential Items
- Basic food products and drinks.
- Cleaning supplies and hygiene items.
- Animal feed and pet food.
- Basic cosmetics like soap (but no perfumes or makeup).
