The Trump administration has announced that some immigrant and green card visas will be suspended due to unemployment in the USA.
The US government has announced that it will suspend some work visas and green cards until the end of the year.
While it was stated that the suspension of visas was related to the increasing unemployment in the country, it was stated that H-1B and H-2B visas would be suspended.
The J-1 visa obtained for the Work and Travel program, in which thousands of students from Turkey participate every year, is among the suspended visas.
It was also stated that after the visa suspension, 525,000 jobs will be opened for US citizens.
According to the statement made by a senior management official, in accordance with the decree to be signed by President Donald Trump, the H-1B given to qualified persons to work in the USA and to persons who have changed positions within the company. Foreign nationals with L-1 visas are banned from entering the US until the end of the year.
Healthcare workers and food service workers exempt
The J-1 visa, which is given to future experts to work in various institutions in the USA or to participate in exchange programs, is among the suspended visa types. Health workers working in the field of the Corona virus epidemic are exempt from this ban.
The presidential decree also covers the H-2B visa issued to seasonal workers in the United States. However, those working in the food service industry will also be exempted from this ban.
