The $400,000 Rule for Turkish Citizenship: What Counts?

What counts toward the $400,000 property threshold for Turkish citizenship: combining several properties, the official valuation, title deed price and bank payments, what does not count, properties already used for citizenship, and why to aim a little above $400,000.

The full story.

$400,000 for Turkish citizenship. But what actually counts toward that number?

You don't need one big property. Several apartments can add up to $400,000, as long as every one of them qualifies.

The number that counts isn't the brochure price. It's the official valuation, the price on your title deed, and the payments behind it.

Pay through a Turkish bank, and make sure the bank records match the price on your title deed.

What doesn't count: taxes, fees and commissions, or a share you co-own with other foreign buyers.

And check the property's history. One that was already used for someone's citizenship can't be used again.

Tip: aim a little above $400,000. If one valuation comes in low, your file can fall short.
