How It Works
Turkish Tax Number First
Before anything else, you need a Turkish tax number (vergi kimlik numarası). Banks use it to identify you in their system, and almost no application can move forward without it. We obtain it online or in person at the tax office — usually within the same day.
Document Preparation & Identity Check
We review your full document set — passport, address proof, tax number, and any supplementary items — and cross-check that your name and identity details match exactly across all documents. A small mismatch in spelling is one of the most common reasons for delays or rejections.
Right Bank, Right Branch
Not every bank — and not every branch — handles foreign accounts the same way. Some branches reject files that others accept without issue. We identify the banks and specific branches experienced with foreign clients based on your nationality and situation, so you don't waste time on the wrong door.
Branch Visit or Power of Attorney
We accompany you to the branch with translation support if needed. If you cannot be present in Turkey, we arrange a Power of Attorney through your nearest Turkish consulate so your account can be opened remotely by an authorised representative.
IBAN, Online Banking & Multi-Currency Setup
Once the account is open, we make sure your IBAN is issued, online and mobile banking is active, and — where needed — USD, EUR, or GBP sub-accounts are set up alongside your Turkish Lira account so you can manage international transfers without friction.
Required Documents
Valid Passport (with recent entry stamp)
Some branches specifically check for a recent entry stamp for non-resident applicants. If your script is not Latin, a certified Turkish translation may be requested.
Turkish Tax Number (Vergi Kimlik No.)
Mandatory for every bank account in Turkey. Can be obtained online via the Interactive Tax Office or in person with just your passport. Does not make you a taxpayer — it is an administrative ID for financial systems.
Proof of Address
For residents: a rental contract, utility bill, or official address registration. For non-residents: an address document from your home country is often accepted — exact requirements vary by branch policy.
Turkish Phone Number
Not always mandatory, but almost always makes the process easier. Banks use it for SMS verification, mobile banking activation, and ongoing notifications. We advise getting a local SIM before your branch appointment.
Source of Funds Declaration
Required by Turkish AML regulations for all accounts. We help you draft a clear, compliant statement that matches what the compliance officer expects to see.
Timeline & Investment
Once documents are ready and the right branch is confirmed. Preparation (tax number, document review) is usually done same-day. Corporate accounts take 3–7 days.
Covers tax number procurement, document review, branch identification, and accompanying you to the appointment. Power of Attorney arrangement is billed separately.
