Did you lose your work permit card in Turkey? Follow this guide to learn how to obtain a missing report and request a replacement card through the e-government system.
Immediate Steps After Losing Your Work Permit Card
Losing your work permit card in Turkey means you must act fast. You need to follow certain steps to keep your legal status safe. This helps you avoid fines or trouble during police checks. Don't wait too long to start the process.
1. Get a Police Report
Go to the nearest police station (Karakol) or the Prosecutor’s Office (Adliye) right away. Tell the officers you lost your card. They'll give you a "Missing Report" (Kayıp Tutanağı). This paper is your official proof. It protects you if someone else tries to use your card for something illegal.
2. Tell Your Employer
Tell your boss immediately. Your employer is responsible for your legal status under Turkish law. They must start the replacement process online. Because the system uses their digital signature, they have to handle the request for you. And they'll need your police report to do it.
How to Get a New Work Permit Card via e-Devlet
The replacement process happens online through the Ministry portal. Your employer or their legal rep must follow these steps:
- Log in to e-Devlet using the employer's e-signature.
- Open the work permit automation system.
- Find your name in the list of employees.
- Click the "Create Card Request" (Kart Talebi) button.
- Upload the police report if the system asks for it.
Fees for a New Work Permit Card
Getting a new card isn't free. You'll have to pay two different fees at Ziraat Bank, Vakıfbank, or Halkbank. First, you pay for the physical card itself. Second, you usually pay half of the original permit fee for the time you have left. The system gives you a reference number for these payments. But make sure you use the right tax code to avoid any mistakes.
How You'll Get Your New Card
Once you pay and the Ministry approves, they print the card. The Migration office sends it through PTT (Turkish Post). It goes straight to your workplace address. You can track it online with the PTT number from the system. It usually takes a few weeks to arrive at your office.
Important Tips for Your Work Permit Card
Keep your police report and payment receipt with you at all times while you wait. These papers prove your work permit card is being replaced. Don't try to leave or enter Turkey without them. Border officers will check your status, and you need this proof to stay safe. So, keep them in your wallet until the new card arrives.
