The Ç101 restriction code is applied to foreigners who overstay their visa or residence permit. Learn the duration of this entry ban and how to resolve it.
Understanding the Ç101 Restriction Code
The Ç101 restriction code is a legal mark for people who break visa rules in Turkey. It falls under the Law on Foreigners and International Protection. This code creates a short entry ban because of an overstay or a missed notice.
When is the Ç101 restriction code applied?
Turkish officials use this code in a few specific cases. It usually depends on how long you stayed and how you left the country. There are two main ways this happens.
1. Leaving on your own after a long overstay
You might get this code if you leave Turkey on your own after staying too long. This applies if you stayed past your limit for 6 months to 1 year. But you must pay your fine at the border gate before you fly out. The Fees Law sets these fine amounts.
2. Short overstays and not following rules
The code also hits people with short overstays of up to 3 months. This happens if you don't pay your fine at the exit. It also applies if you ignore an official letter from the Immigration office telling you to leave.
How long does the Ç101 entry ban last?
People with this code face a 3-month entry ban. So, you can't come back for 90 days. If you try to enter early without a special visa, you'll be rejected at the border. It's best to wait the full time.
The link between Ç101 and the N120 code
Paying your fine is the most important part of leaving. If you leave without paying, you might get an N120 code too. This second code stays active until you pay the debt. It often makes it much harder to clear your record and remove the ban.
How to remove the Ç101 restriction code
You have three main ways to get back into Turkey:
If you need a closer look here, see Ç-104 – What Does the Restricted Code Mean?.
- Wait for the ban to end: The 3-month period clears itself if you paid all your fines. This is the easiest way.
- Get a special visa: You can apply for an "Annotated Visa" at a Turkish consulate. This works for jobs, marriage, or school and can bypass the ban.
- Go to court: You can challenge the decision in the Administrative Court. You'll need a lawyer for this legal path. It must start within the legal time limits.
Tips for people with visa violations
Don't let your visa expire. Leaving on your own and paying fines leads to shorter bans. If the police deport you, the penalties are much worse. Knowing how the Ç101 restriction code works helps you stay on the right side of the law.
