Learn the essential documents required to obtain a Turkmenistan commercial visa. Follow our expert checklist to ensure a successful and smooth application process.

The Role of the LOI for a Turkmenistan Commercial Visa

You need a Letter of Invitation (LOI) to get a Turkmenistan Commercial Visa. It's the most important document on your list. You can't even apply for a visa without it. Your host company or business partner in Turkmenistan must apply for this letter for you. They do this through the State Migration Service. The approval process usually takes 10 to 15 business days. Once it's ready, the state issues a certified LOI with a unique reference number. You'll need a copy of this to submit your application at an embassy. You can also use it to get your visa when you land at Ashgabat International Airport.

Mandatory Passport and Identification Documents

Your passport is your main travel document. But Turkmenistan is very strict about how it looks and how long it lasts. Make sure your passport stays in good shape. It must be valid for at least 8 months after the day you arrive. Check if you have at least two blank pages for stamps and the visa sticker. If your passport is torn or frayed, the officers might reject it immediately. And you should bring a clear color copy of your main data page.

Domestic Identification

You might need to show your national ID card too. This depends on where you're from or where you live. Usually, they want to see the page that shows your current home address. If you live in a different country, bring a copy of your residence permit. This proves you're living there legally.

Business and Professional Evidence

To get a business visa, you must show that your trip is for real work. The embassy needs proof of your job and your plans. The following papers help prove your intent:

Proof of Employment

Get a formal letter from your boss on company letterhead. This letter should list your job title and how long you've worked there. It must explain why you're visiting Turkmenistan. And it should state that the company will pay for your travel and living costs. Don't forget to include the contact info for your manager.

Host Company Documentation

The company in Turkmenistan has to prove they are a real business. They need to send copies of their registration and tax papers. These documents show the government they can host foreign partners or consultants like you.

Financial Solvency and Support

You need to show you have enough money for your stay. The government wants to know you won't try to find a local job. You must provide original bank statements from the last three to six months. They should show a steady balance and enough funds for your whole trip. You can also use recent pay stubs to prove your income.

Visa Application Forms and Photography

Be very careful when you fill out the form. Even a small mistake can lead to a visa delay. Use block letters and answer every single question. If a question doesn't apply to you, just write "N/A." You'll also need two recent photos with a white background. Don't wear a hat or glasses unless it's for religious reasons. Keep a neutral face for the camera.

Post-Arrival Requirements: Registration (OVIR)

Getting the visa is only the first step. If you stay in Turkmenistan for more than three days, you must register. You do this at the State Migration Service. People often call this "OVIR" registration. Your host company should help you with this process. But don't forget to do it. If you skip this, you might face big fines or even deportation. They will give you a registration slip. Keep it in your passport until you leave the country.

Health and Insurance Requirements

Border guards often check your health papers when you arrive. So, it's smart to carry travel insurance that covers medical emergencies. You might also need to show your vaccine records or specific test results. Always check the latest health rules before you fly. It's better to be safe than stuck at the border.

Getting a Turkmenistan Commercial Visa takes some planning, but it's simple if you have the right papers. Just follow these steps and stay in touch with your host company to ensure a smooth trip.
