In 2020, Turkey stopped extending the touristic residence permit to stop illegal work. The General Directorate of Migration Management sent this rule to all 81 provinces. It's a major shift for many expats. If you're living here, you must follow these new guidelines to stay legal.
The government paused Circular 2019/1 for a while because of the pandemic. But now, the rules are back in force. If you applied after January 1, 2020, and the ministry rejected you, you can still reapply. Just be ready to pay a penalty fee for the time you stayed without a permit.

Did you overstay your visa after the start of 2020? You can still submit an application. However, the migration office will charge you a penalty for the violation period. They'll only evaluate your file after you pay these fees.
