The number of foreign tourists coming to Antalya has exceeded 8 million
Antalya has welcomed over 8 million foreign tourists this year, signaling a strong recovery in the tourism sector and increasing interest from global travelers.
Antalya Tourism Hits Major Milestone in 2024
Antalya tourism just hit a massive goal. More than 8 million foreign tourists visited the city in the first seven months of 2024. This shows the region is recovering fast. It's home to the most five-star hotels in Turkey. From January to mid-August, exactly 8,015,366 international visitors arrived. Numbers are now getting close to pre-pandemic levels.
Germany Takes the Lead in Tourist Arrivals
The rankings changed this year. Germany beat Russia to become the top source of visitors. About 1,364,000 Germans visited the city. That's a huge 250% jump from last year. It shows that Western Europeans really want to visit the Turkish coast again.
Top Source Markets for Antalya
Germany is number one, but other countries are also spending big. Here's a quick look at the top markets:
- Germany: 1.36 million tourists (up 250%)
- Russia: 1.27 million tourists (up 13%)
- United Kingdom: 617,440 tourists
- Poland: 392,135 tourists
- Netherlands: 236,115 tourists
Russia used to be first. Now it's in second place despite growing by 13%. The UK, Poland, and the Netherlands are also high on the list. This shows people from all over Europe love Antalya.
Diversifying the Antalya Tourism Market
The city doesn't just rely on one or two countries anymore. Governor Ersin Yazıcı says new markets are growing fast. Israel is back in the top ten at 8th place. Kazakhstan, Romania, Denmark, and Czechia also made the list. This variety helps the tourism sector stay strong if one country stops traveling.
Extending the Season into November
Local experts want to make the busy season longer. Usually, July through October are the peak months. But now, they're pushing for November too. Last year, the city stayed busy until the middle of November. Governor Yazıcı says hotels are full through the end of October. And more than 70,000 people are arriving every single day.
Why Antalya Remains the Tourism Capital
Antalya has a great mix of nature and modern buildings. You'll find huge beaches, old ruins, and luxury resorts here. Because there are so many five-star hotels, the city can host millions of people easily. Experts think the year will end with record numbers. It might even beat the 2019 records. So, Antalya tourism is definitely back on top.
