Discover how TÖMER language courses can help you master Turkish and secure your student residence permit for a successful academic journey in Turkey.

Why Choose Turkey for International Education?

Turkey is a great place for international students. You get a high-quality education and a rich culture. Turkish universities offer diplomas that the whole world recognizes. But first, you should learn the language. A TÖMER course helps you handle daily life. It also gives you an edge in business and diplomacy.

What is a TÖMER Course?

TÖMER means Turkish Language Teaching Center. Ankara University started it back in 1984. It's the most famous place to learn Turkish as a foreign language. Most schools here accept these certificates for admission. The center uses the standard European framework for its levels.

TÖMER Course Structure and Levels

The classes follow a clear path. You'll work on reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Each stage builds on the last one to make you fluent.

Basic Level (A1 & A2)

Students learn basic grammar and words for daily life. You can introduce yourself or handle simple tasks like shopping. It's the first step to feeling at home here.

Intermediate Level (B1 & B2)

This part covers harder sentences. You'll talk about your dreams and past events. Most jobs in Turkey ask for at least a B2 certificate to hire you.

Advanced Level (C1 & C1+)

C1 is the standard requirement for university. You'll understand long texts and speak fluently. You won't have to search for words during a lecture or a meeting.

How to Register for TÖMER

Signing up as a private student is easy. Pick your branch and pay the first fees. Then, the school sends an official invitation letter. You need this letter for your visa and residence permit.

Required Documents

  • A form from the TÖMER office.
  • A copy of your passport page.
  • Two recent photos.
  • Your bank receipt.
  • A current residence permit if you're already in Turkey.

Tuition Fees and Costs

Prices change every year and depend on the city. In late 2022, the full 960-hour package (A1 to C1) cost about 19,200 TL. If you only went to B2, it was 14,400 TL. Single levels usually cost between 3,600 TL and 4,800 TL.

These fees usually cover more than just class time. You'll get books, join speaking clubs, and go on trips. Check the latest rates with your specific branch before you pay.

Student Visas and Residence Permits

If you need a visa to enter Turkey, apply for a Student Visa at the consulate. Use your TÖMER invitation letter for this. This visa usually lasts 90 days. Once you arrive and start class, you must get a Student Residence Permit (Öğrenci İkamet İzni).

This permit lets you stay for a year. You can renew it if you keep studying. You'll need your student ID, address proof, and health insurance to apply.

Transitioning to University

Finishing your TÖMER course is the best way to start a degree. With a C1 certificate, you can apply to most departments. Many schools also ask for the YÖS exam. If your Turkish is strong, these tests are much easier. It's a clear path from learning the language to building a career.
