New Mail-In Process for Istanbul Residence Permits
Istanbul has changed how you apply for your Istanbul residence permit. If your appointment falls between June 1 and August 17, 2020, don't go to the office in person. Required Documents for Your Application File
Make sure your file is complete so you don't face delays. Most people will need these basic items for their file:
- E-residence application form: You or your lawyer must sign this.
- Passport copy: Copy the ID page and the page with your last entry stamp.
- Biometric photos: You need four photos taken in the last six months.
- Valid health insurance: This must cover the time you plan to stay.
- Proof of address: Use a notarized rental contract or a utility bill in your name.
- Receipts: Show you paid for the card and any tuition fees.

How to Send Your Application via PTT or Cargo
Use the Turkish Post (PTT) or a private courier to send your file. We suggest using registered mail through PTT. It gives you a tracking number and proof that they got it. Address the package to the specific district office where you first booked your visit.
