Legal Basis of Turkey Entry Bans

When No Entry Ban is Issued

• 3 to 6 months overstay: 1-month entry ban.
• 6 months to 1 year overstay: 3-month entry ban.
• 1 to 2 years overstay: 1-year entry ban.
• 2 to 3 years overstay: 2-year entry ban.
• Over 3 years overstay: 5-year entry ban.

Entry Bans for Deportation and Ignoring Rules

You'll face much tougher penalties if you're deported or refuse to pay fines. In these cases, your ban can last between 3 months and 5 years. This happens if you ignore an invitation to leave or if you don't pay your fees at the airport. It also applies if your residence permit was rejected but you stayed anyway. This category includes:

• People who don't pay fines when they leave.
• Those who overstayed up to 3 months but ignored the order to leave.
• Anyone overstaying more than 3 months who gets a deportation order.
• People who entered with a 10-day conditional permit but never applied for residency.

The ban lengths for these violations are:

• Up to 3 months overstay: 3-month entry ban.

Impact of Unpaid Fines on Re-entry

Don't assume you can return just because your ban ended. If you still owe money to the Turkish state, you can't come back. This includes any unpaid fines from your previous visa violation. Under the law, officers will deny your entry until you pay every cent. So, keep your payment receipts safe. You'll need them to prove you've settled your debt at the border.
