Turkey Implements Mandatory PCR Testing for International Arrivals
The Turkish Ministry of Health just updated travel rules for everyone entering the country. Now, you must show a negative PCR test result if you're coming from abroad. This step helps keep everyone safe and stops the virus from spreading across borders. It's a simple move to protect both locals and tourists.
Key Dates for Your PCR Test
These new rules follow a strict timeline. If you're flying, you'll need your test results starting December 28, 2020. For those coming by land or sea, the rule starts on December 30, 2020. Right now, these rules will stay in place until March 1, 2021.
You need to take your PCR test within 72 hours before your flight leaves. Make sure you go to a certified lab in your home country. You'll need to show your results to airline staff or border police. So, keep a digital or paper copy ready to show them quickly.
Quarantine if You Don't Have a PCR Test
Airlines won't let you board without a negative result. But what if you arrive at a land or sea border without one? In that case, you'll have to stay at your home or hotel for seven days.
On the seventh day of your stay, you can take a new test. If it's negative, you're free to go. But if it's positive, the Ministry of Health will provide medical care under their standard rules. This helps ensure that no one brings a health risk into the community.
Rules for High-Risk Countries
Some areas need extra care because of new virus variants. If you've been to the UK, Denmark, or South Africa in the last ten days, the rules are tougher. You'll still need a negative PCR test, but you must also quarantine at your home even if your result is negative.

Turkish Airlines and other companies are checking these documents carefully. Bilal Ekşi, the General Manager, said everyone must show their papers before they fly. Border gates and seaports are doing the same. Don't forget to keep your PCR test results handy throughout your whole trip to avoid any stress at the gate.
