Eadeh made a written statement regarding the US-Turkey trade and economic relations and the details of the US Department of Commerce Undersecretary Marisa Lago’s visit.

Indicating that there is a strong and growing economic relationship between the USA and Turkey, Eadeh pointed out that last year, the total trade volume between the USA and Turkey increased by 32 percent compared to the previous year and reached approximately 28 billion dollars.

Eadeh, on the other hand, pointed out that the US’s trade with the rest of the world increased by only 22 percent during the period in question, “Turkish goods are becoming more and more attractive in the US market. The US was the No. 2 market for Turkish exports in 2021.” used the expression.

Stating that last year Turkey’s exports to the USA reached $16 billion with an increase of approximately 45 percent, Eadeh emphasized that this increase was the highest among Turkey’s top 5 trading partners.

Expressing that the USA is Turkey’s 4th largest trading partner, Eadeh said, “There is room for further growth in trade relations for both sides.”

“US companies see Turkey as a regional hub.” Sharing his opinion, Eadeh stated that the amount of foreign direct investment of the USA in Turkey reached 5.8 billion dollars in 2020.

Eadeh stated that US companies in Turkey employed approximately 60 thousand people in the country in 2019 and said, “We are very pleased to launch the US-Turkey Strategic Mechanism on April 4th. Concerning the details of the goal of expanding the US-Turkey bilateral trade volume, Eadeh stated that Embassy officials regularly meet with US companies that want to increase their sales and investments in Turkey.

“USA EXPECTS MORE ENERGY SECURITY COOPERATION IN THE NEAR FUTURE”

Pointing out that Turkey has made solid progress in improving the security and diversity of energy resources in recent years and that it is a leader in the development of renewable energy, Eadeh said:

“We held our 4th energy-focused event jointly with Turkey in the last two years. We are working closely with Turkey on regional energy development. As in the (SMR) Forum, we are determined to partner with Turkey to develop clean and renewable energy generation sources. The USA expects more energy security cooperation in the near future.”
