The house sales figures for May in Turkey were shared by the Turkish Statistical Institute. Accordingly, house sales increased by 107.5 percent in May compared to the same month of the previous year and became 122 thousand 768. Russian citizens were the ones who bought the most housing among foreigners in our country.

THE BIGGEST SHARE IS ISTANBUL
Istanbul had the highest share in house sales with 22 thousand 148 houses and 18.0 percent. According to the number of sales, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 11 thousand 497 house sales and 9.4 percent share, and Izmir with 7 thousand 159 sales and 5.8 percent share.

BAYBURT’S MINIMUM SHARE
The provinces with the lowest number of house sales were Hakkari with 21 houses, Ardahan with 43 houses and Bayburt with 75 houses, respectively. Housing sales in the January-May period increased by 37.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 575 thousand 889.
FIRST HAND HOUSING SALES
The number of first-hand house sales in Turkey increased by 80.5% in May compared to the same month of the previous year and became 32 thousand 861. The share of first hand house sales in total house sales was 26.8 percent. In the January-May period, first-hand house sales increased by 28.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 163 thousand 719.
SECOND HAND HOUSING SALES
Second-hand house sales across Turkey increased by 119.5% in May compared to the same month of the previous year and became 89 thousand 907. The share of second-hand housing sales in total housing sales was 73.2 percent. Second-hand house sales in the January-May period increased by 42.0 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 412 thousand 170.
5 thousand 692 HOUSES SOLD TO FOREIGNERS
Housing sales to foreigners increased by 235.7 percent in May compared to the same month of the previous year and became 5 thousand 962. In May, the share of house sales to foreigners in total house sales was 4.9 percent. Istanbul took the first place in house sales to foreigners with the sale of 2 thousand 451 houses. Antalya was followed by Antalya with 1,885 house sales and Mersin with 264 house sales, respectively.
THE RUSSIANS BUY THE MOST
In May, citizens of the Russian Federation bought 1,275 houses from Turkey. Citizens of the Russian Federation were followed by Iran with 736 residences and Iraqi citizens with 617 residences, respectively.
