Deputy Minister of Interior and Ministry Spokesperson İsmail Çataklı stated that fingerprints will be taken when issuing visas for arrivals from Africa to Turkey, and that the system in this area has been established. Çataklı made statements regarding Turkey’s migration policies at the “Meeting of Migration with Media Representatives” and answered questions. Stating that the issue of migration is not today’s issue, Çataklı stated that the world is facing migration for different reasons, and that Turkey, where approximately 4 million foreigners live, is the country that hosts the most immigrants.

Noting that there are people who came to Turkey with a visa and then destroyed their passports and did not return, Çataklı said that this situation also made it difficult to identify the people, and that those who were caught claimed that they left their country due to wars.

Cataklı, “We are starting to take fingerprints in all countries where visa is granted in Africa. The system has been set up and tested. In this sense, I think we will have solved the transition from regular migration to irregular migration to a large extent” he said.
