Turkey Phone Registration 2026: Fees & Guide
Discover the latest 2026 requirements for registering your foreign mobile phone in Turkey, including current IMEI fees and the official e-Government process.
Mobile Phone Registration in Turkey for 2026
Turkey has strict rules for mobile phones brought from abroad. If you want to use a local Turkish SIM card, you must complete your mobile phone registration in Turkey. The BTK office manages this entire process. For 2026, the government updated the costs and steps to match new economic rates. This guide shows you how to keep your phone working without any service gaps.
The 120-Day Grace Period and Extensions
Your foreign phone works for 120 days after you enter the country. This limit applies to each SIM slot or IMEI number. So, if you have a dual-SIM phone, you get 120 days for each slot. This window is perfect for tourists or short-term visitors.
But what if you stay longer? You can often extend this time through the e-Devlet portal. You can apply for two 30-day extensions. This gives you 180 days in total. After that, the network blocks your device. You can still use Wi-Fi, but you won't get any signal for calls or data. And remember, the block happens automatically.
Official 2026 Mobile Phone Registration in Turkey Fee
The cost of registering a phone has gone up quite a bit. For 2026, the official IMEI fee is 54,258 TL. You pay this tax to the Turkish government to get a permanent usage permit.

The state changes this price every year based on inflation rates. Since the fee is high, many people think about buying a local phone instead. But for a new iPhone or a high-end Samsung, paying the fee might still be your best bet. Always check the current exchange rate before you pay.
Mandatory Requirements for Registration
You can't register just any device. There are strict legal rules you must follow before you pay the tax:
- The 3-Year Rule: You can only register one phone every three calendar years. If you registered one in 2024, you must wait until 2027 to do it again.
- Passport Entry: Your passport must have a valid entry stamp from the last 365 days.
- Matching SIM: For the first three years, the phone only works with a SIM card in your name. You can't let a friend use their SIM in your registered phone.
How to Register Your Phone via e-Devlet
The easiest way to register is through the e-Government portal. You need a Turkish ID number and an e-Devlet password. You can get this password from any PTT post office by showing your ID. It only costs a few liras.
- Log in to the e-Devlet portal.
- Search for "IMEI Kaydet" (Register IMEI).
- Enter your IMEI number. Dial *#06# on your phone to find it.
- Put in your passport info and your last entry date.
- Pay the fee with a credit card or through your bank app.
- Confirm the transaction and save your digital receipt.
Payment Options for the IMEI Tax
You have to pay the 54,258 TL before the system finishes your request. There are three main ways to pay:
- Online: Use the e-Devlet portal during your application. It's the fastest way.
- Digital Tax Office: Visit the official tax website. Look for the "Harç" payment section.
- Banks: Most big banks like Ziraat, Vakıfbank, or Halkbank take these payments. Just give the teller your passport and IMEI number.
What Happens if Your Phone is Blocked?
Don't worry if you miss the 180-day window and your phone gets blocked. The block isn't permanent. Your signal comes back once you pay the fee and finish the mobile phone registration in Turkey. It usually takes about 12 to 24 hours for the service to return. If you leave and come back next year, the 120-day timer resets for that new year. But for a long-term stay, it's better to handle the paperwork early.
